Overview

The holy mausoleum of Syed Balkhi, Pakherpora Shrine is quite a popular Muslim pilgrimage in Yusmarg [Budgam district]. The sacred place is also a heritage site built several centuries ago. The shrine is thronged by a large number of devotees during the annual urs (death anniversary) of the saint.

Spring (April to June)

This is considered the best time to visit. The temperatures are mild, ranging between 10°C and 25°C. The landscape is lush and colourful, with blooming flowers creating a picturesque setting. .

Summer (July to August)

The region experiences some rainfall, but temperatures remain cooler compared to other areas, generally between 15°C to 30°C. However, it can be less ideal for tourists due to the monsoon showers. .

Autumn (September to November)

This season offers mild temperatures between 10°C to 20°C. The weather is comfortable, and fewer tourists visit, allowing for a serene atmosphere and beautiful autumn foliage.

Winter (December to March)

Winter can be harsh with temperatures dropping below freezing. Snowfall is common during this time, creating a peaceful, snowy landscape. However, travel conditions can be challenging, and fewer tourists visit during these months.

How to Reach

By Air

The nearest airport is Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport, located in Srinagar, about 38 kilometres from Yusmarg. From there, you can take a taxi or private car to reach Pakherpora Shrine. .

By Train

The closest railway station to Yusmarg is Srinagar Railway Station, although train connectivity to the region is limited. After reaching the station, you will need to hire a taxi or use local transportation to reach the shrine.

By Car

Yusmarg is accessible by car from Srinagar, and the drive takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours (about 38 km). Local taxis or rental cars are available for hire at the Srinagar airport or within the city.

Spring (March–May)
