Located at a distance of about 16 km from the heart of Pahalgam, this valley is quite accessible via roadways.

How to reach

By Train

The nearest railway station to Chandanwari is Jammu Tawi Railway Station, approximately 286 km away. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Pahalgam, and then Chandanwari, which is around 16 km from Pahalgam. Jammu Tawi is well-connected to major cities in India, such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

By Air

The closest airport is Srinagar International Airport, which is about 95 km from Chandanwari. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Pahalgam. The road journey from Srinagar to Pahalgam takes around 2-3 hours, and you can continue by car or hire a local vehicle to reach Chandanwari.

By Car

You can drive to Chandanwari from Srinagar or Pahalgam. From Srinagar, take the NH44 route towards Pahalgam, covering a distance of approximately 95 km. Once you reach Pahalgam, Chandanwari is an additional 16 km. The roads are in good condition, but they can be narrow and winding, especially in the mountainous areas, so drive carefully.

April to June  

During this period, the weather is mild and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 11°C to 25°C, ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities. The clear skies and lush greenery make this a perfect time to enjoy the scenic landscapes.

 

July to August  

though popular due to the Amarnath Yatra, tends to be crowded and experiences more rain.

 

September and October   

For a quieter experience, consider visiting between September and October, when the weather is still favourable for trekking and camping, before the winter snowfall begins in November.
